Why we default to text
Text chat is not a downgrade from video — for a first conversation it is the better tool. It reveals nothing about how you look, nothing about how you sound and nothing about where you live. It gives you time to think before you reply. And it is the only mode where you can genuinely assess someone before deciding how much of yourself to show.
Every other platform in this category treats text as the waiting room before the "real" experience. We treat it as a complete mode with its own strengths, and we ship the features that make it good on its own.
What makes a good text conversation
The single strongest predictor of a long conversation is the opening message. "Hi" and "asl" produce the shortest sessions by a wide margin. Anything that references something specific produces the longest.
Because you can see the other person's listed interests before you send anything, you have a reliable way in. "You picked languages and films — which one first?" outperforms a greeting every single time, and it takes no more effort to type.
The second factor is pace. Text chat does not require an instant reply. If someone takes two minutes to answer, that is normal and not a signal of disinterest — this is not a messaging app and there is no read receipt to worry about.
Typing indicators and read state
You will see when the other person is typing, which removes the awkwardness of talking over each other. There is no read receipt and no "last seen" timestamp, because both create pressure that makes conversation worse without adding anything useful.

Links from unverified accounts are blocked outright, which removes the most common vector for malware and phishing in this category.
If someone asks for your social handles, your number or your address in the first few minutes, that pattern is itself a signal. Report it — a human reads every report.

Is text chat really free?
Yes, with no credit card and no paywall. Text, voice, video and voice notes are all free, and there is no premium tier that unlocks basic conversation.
Do you store my chat history?
Message content is held in memory for the duration of the session only and deleted when you disconnect. We do not keep transcripts, and nothing is sold to advertisers. Only what you explicitly save persists.
Why do I see a typing indicator but no read receipt?
Typing indicators reduce the awkwardness of talking over each other. Read receipts create pressure to respond immediately, which makes conversations worse without adding anything useful — so we deliberately left them out.
Can I send voice notes instead of typing?
Yes. Record a message, listen back to it, and send when you are ready. Voice notes are exclusive to OmegaGirlsChat among random chat platforms.
What happens if I get matched with a bot?
It should not happen. Device fingerprinting and behavioural scoring run before an account can enter the match pool, and accounts showing scripted patterns are removed at the network level rather than one report at a time. If you do see one, report it.
